At home with Ring Ring
How to set up a home phone over your internet connection
The most useful setup decision happens before you open the box: where will the phone live? Choose somewhere your child can hear it ring, reach it easily and settle in for a conversation. Then work back to the power and network connections.
The path from router to phone.
Both need power and a working internet connection. The Bridge uses Ethernet, even if your home network also provides Wi-Fi.

Choose the connection that fits your home
Ring Ring’s Modern Kit connects over Wi-Fi. The Bridge connects to your router or mesh unit with Ethernet, and your compatible analog phone connects to the Bridge. The Nostalgic Kit includes a corded phone and Bridge.
For the Bridge, check that you have a free Ethernet port, power nearby, and a suitable place for the phone. For Modern, check Wi-Fi coverage where the phone will sit.
Follow the guide for your kit
- Unpack the equipment and follow the included setup instructions.
- Connect power and the required network connection.
- Complete activation and choose the calling plan you need.
- Add and approve contacts through the parent controls.
- Set quiet hours around your household’s routine.
Use the help center for the current instructions for your device. Setup time varies with your network and activation steps.
Test the calls your plan supports
Try an ordinary call in each direction with an approved contact. On Starter, use a connected Ring Ring member. For an approved mobile or other outside US number, use the paid plan.
Check the ringer, handset audio and quiet-hours settings together. Show your child how to answer, dial and hang up. Do not place a test emergency call.
Plan for outages and emergencies
The phone depends on power and internet. Decide how your family will call for help if either is unavailable. On a paid plan, complete the required service-address verification for E911 and keep the address current.
Ring Ring’s Starter plan is $0/month for calls between connected Ring Ring members. Calling approved outside US numbers requires the paid plan: $8.95/month or $96.66 billed annually. Equipment is purchased separately. E911 requires the paid plan, a verified service address, power and internet.
If something does not work
Check power, network connections, activation, approved contacts and quiet hours. If you still need help, contact support with your device model and what happened on an ordinary call. Do not share passwords.
